Pregabalin works by binding to the alpha2-delta site of voltage-gated calcium channels in the central nervous system. This reduces the release of several neurotransmitters, including glutamate, norepinephrine, substance P and calcitonin gene-related peptide.
Pregabalin is used to treat epilepsy, neuropathic pain, fibromyalgia, and generalized anxiety disorder.
