Mechanism of Action

Sodium-glucose cotransporter 2 (SGLT2) inhibitor. It works independently of insulin by blocking SGLT2 in the proximal renal tubules, which normally reabsorb about 90% of filtered glucose. This prevents glucose reabsorption, lowers the renal threshold for glucose, and promotes its elimination via urine.
